Meet Casa María’s snowman

Brother Snowman was born on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021 at approximately 4:06 p.m. Central Standard Time. Weather conditions were ideal for his birth with the temperature hovering around 30•F for most of the day, along with a steady snowfall since 7:30 a.m.

Unfortunately, he lived for only nine minutes as he toppled over to his left at 4:15 p.m.

Nevertheless, his nine minutes of life brought joy to the brothers of Casa María and those who stopped by to take a photo of this unusual site: a five-and-a-half-foot snowman in San Antonio, Texas.

He is survived by the carrot used for his nose, five avocados which served as his eyes and front buttons, a blue hat and an old-school TeCaBoCa cap which he wore when he passed. The brothers intend to use the avocados for guacamole later this week.

Casa María continues Oyster Bake tradition

April 18, 2020

The Marianists of the Casa María Community at St. Mary’s University continued the Oyster Bake tradition amid sheltering-in-place practices Saturday, April 18, 2020. Since the community lives on campus, technically, the Pecan Grove is part of their “home.” Officially, Oyster Bake 2020 was cancelled so the brothers felt it appropriate to celebrate it at the place and time when it would have been held.
