Little altar for Día de los Muertos

Casa María participates in what has become a local Mexican-American custom known as Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). A little altar honoring the departed loved ones of the Brothers in the community has been arranged as we prepare to observe the feast of All Souls on November 2.

Bro. Brandon was one of the three speakers at the “Meet the Marianists” event hosted by the Vocation Office on Thursday, October 28th.  The event started with a great dinner and then Fr. Pat, Sr. Marcia and Bro. Brandon shared their vocation stories and answered questions.

Brain food. Finger food. An aspirant Padawan learner and perpetually-professed Jedi formator. A baby Curious George. A brother’s sister and a priest-who-is-a-brother-in-law. And a cameo appearance from the Provincial of the Marianist Province of the U.S.

Celebrating  Boo Bash and an early Halloween, Casa Tuesday served up special desserts and hosted a unique collection of visitors on October 26.

Casa Tuesday celebrates Oktoberfest

From pretzels and frankfurters (hot dogs) to apple strudels and a Black Forest chocolate cherry cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte), Casa María hosted an Oktoberfest-themed evening on Tuesday, October 19.

Texas has a sizable German community so it was appropriate to celebrate diversity this month. More than 60 students and staff from St. Mary’s and guests enjoyed dinner, decorations and Deutschland folk music.

Marianists of German heritage—Aspirant Mark Motz, Sister Gretchen Trautman, Brother Brian Halderman and Father Bill Berenger—cut the cake together. Prosit!

Casa hosts MLP Ice Cream Social

Casa María was joined by a slew of Marianist Leadership Program students. MLP is a formation program for student leaders in the Marianist tradition. Mr. Chris Cantu, MLP coordinator and Aspirant Mark Motz both organized the event with the Brothers along with the help of Katie Green, MLP student. Everyone enjoyed cups and cones of ice cream with an assortment of premium ice cream toppings.
