The last Casa Tuesday of the fall 2010 semester included Hawaiian prayers, spontaneous Christmas caroling and a surprise visit from Santa Claus.

StMU students took a break during “study week” to observe the vigil of the Immaculate Conception, to pray for wisdom on their final exams next week and to celebrate the spirit of Advent at Casa Maria, which was recently decorated for the Christmas season. Following a spaghetti dinner, snow-white Mexican wedding cookies were served to commemorate two of St. Mary’s upcoming feast days (Immaculate Conception on Dec. 8 and Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas, on Dec. 12).
Casa María hosts Advent Fest 2010

Casa Tuesday celebrated the start of the new liturgical year with Advent Fest 2010, an event organized by University Ministry to promote a stronger awareness of the Advent Season.
Over 50 students, faculty and staff attended the event which included a special evening prayer session led by The Bridge, an Advent-themed relay race and supper at the the Casa Maria Marianist residence.

Brothers retreat to Omega Center

The brothers of Casa María welcomed the new liturgical year by celebrating the start of Advent while on retreat at the Omega Center in Boerne, Texas.
Inspired by the most recent circular by the Superior General of the Society of Mary, Rev. Manuel Cortes, S.M., the brothers focused on the life of the founder, Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, as the theme of the retreat.
